Ms. D, 78 years old, visited Ankang Acupuncture Clinic last week. Her chief complaint is chronic nausea, which has lasted for 25 years, accompanied by depression, abdominal bloating, acid reflux, frequent dry mouth, dry stools, constipation, poor sleep, and waking up 2-3 times at night to urinate. She has a history of Type 1 diabetes for 50 years, well-controlled with insulin. She is currently taking multiple medications, including perindopril, trazodone, and amlodipine. Various tests at the hospital showed no gastrointestinal issues. Upon examination, the patient’s tongue is red with little coating, cracked, dry, and with pronounced veins on the underside (++), and her pulse is thin, slippery, and weak. She was referred to my clinic by her daughter for treatment. The TCM diagnosis is deficiency of the stomach and intestines yin, stomach disharmony, and lack of moisture in the intestines. The treatment focuses on nourishing yin, moistening the stomach, and lubricating the intestines. Acupuncture treatment included: scalp acupuncture in the gastrointestinal area, Zhongwan, Tianshu, Qihai, Guanyuan, Neiguan, Zusanli, and Taixi. The herbal formula prescribed was Sha Shen Mai Dong Tang, Zeng Ye Cheng Qi Tang, and Shao Yao Gan Cao Tang.
At today’s follow-up visit, the patient was very pleased and described the results as “amazing.” Over the past week, her nausea completely disappeared, her bowel movements became smooth without constipation, her sleep improved, and the dry mouth symptoms vanished.

今天病人复诊，非常高兴，称非常神奇，这一个星期，恶心感完全消失，大便顺畅，无便秘，睡眠好，口干症状消失。
