A young male patient complained of right wrist pain for three months. Due to the nature of his work, which involves using his wrist to twist various tools, he experienced discomfort and radial-side wrist pain. He sought treatment from physical therapists and chiropractors but saw no improvement. Upon a friend’s recommendation, he came to my clinic for treatment.

Examination: Pain was noted on the dorsum of the right wrist, especially around the radial wrist support band and the radial styloid process, with significant tenderness (8/10). The bony prominence was highly sensitive to pressure applied with a fingernail. Further examination revealed transverse fibrous bands and nodules with tenderness in the extensor carpi radialis longus, extensor carpi radialis brevis, and abductor pollicis longus muscles. Significant tenderness was also observed at the origin of the wrist extensors near the elbow, along with palpable nodules.

Treatment:

Using a two-handed technique, the left thumb’s fingernail was used to stabilize the tender points, while SNAN Acupuncture was applied directly around the radial styloid process and the muscle areas with noticeable transverse fibrous bands and nodules. After a five-minute treatment, the patient’s pain level decreased to 2/10. The patient was very pleased.

Post-Treatment Instructions:

  • Keep the treated area warm.
  • Avoid alcohol consumption.
  • Rest the affected limb and refrain from any physical activity or exercise.

Discussion:

SNAN Acupuncture can quickly release myofascial trigger point nodules and scar adhesions, improve blood circulation, reduce inflammation and nerve entrapment, and block pain signal transmission. It helps the body generate natural analgesic substances, producing an immediate therapeutic effect.
